Terms of Collaboration

The terms you agree to when you apply for an Editorial Portrait Session, including how your data is handled.

In short:
  • Sessions are collaborations. No fee either way.
  • Applying is a commitment to attend. Give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or move.
  • I keep the copyright. You get a free licence to use your images for your portfolio and your own channels.
  • You can pause or stop a session at any time.
  • Your details are used only to run your session, and deleted on a set schedule.

1. Who these terms cover

1.1 Editorial Portrait Sessions are collaboration sessions run by me, Metty Unuabona (Ehimetalor Unuabona), a London-based photographer. They aren't run by a separate company or agency.

1.2 "I" and "me" mean Metty Unuabona. "You" means the person being photographed.

1.3 A model booker or agency can apply on your behalf. If they do, they confirm you've agreed to these terms, and the terms apply to you as the model.

1.4 Words used here: an application is your request for a slot. A booking is an application I've confirmed. A slot is a listed date, time and place. A session is the shoot itself. Your gallery is the set of edited images I deliver afterwards.

2. Applying and attending

2.1 Each session is a collaboration, not a paid booking. Neither of us pays the other.

2.2 Your slot is held as soon as you apply. I review every application myself, and I may decline one, or cancel a booking, including on the day, if something doesn't check out.

2.3 Before confirming, I need to know who I'll be working with, and that what you've sent is genuine. If your Instagram is private, I may ask for a few images first.

2.4 Only apply for a time you can make. To cancel or move a booking, give at least 48 hours' notice, using the link in your emails.

2.5 If I have to cancel, through illness, a clash or anything unexpected, I'll tell you plainly and help you rebook.

2.6 If you're more than 20 minutes late without telling me, the session may be cancelled.

2.7 Outdoor sessions depend on the weather. If it's unsafe or unworkable, I'll tell you before you travel and offer another time.

2.8 Your outfit descriptions need to be real: what you'll bring, not a placeholder. You can change them before the day, using the link in your emails.

2.9 You're welcome to bring a friend, chaperone, stylist or makeup artist. Please tell me in advance.

3. Studio sessions

3.1 When a session is at a studio I've booked, I book and pay for it in advance. If you'd rather shoot at a studio you've booked yourself, that's yours to arrange.

3.2 If you cancel a session at a studio I've booked on the day, or don't attend, without a genuine unavoidable reason, studio sessions may not be offered to you again for 12 months. Outdoor sessions aren't affected.

3.3 Studios run to a fixed end time, so a session may finish a few minutes early.

3.4 Hair, makeup and styling aren't provided. You prepare these yourself.

4. Age

4.1 You must be 18 or over to attend alone.

4.2 If you're 16 or 17, a parent or guardian must approve your application before it's confirmed. They'll get an email asking them to approve or decline, and approving means they agree to these terms for the session. Your parent or guardian, or another adult aged 21 or over, must be with you for the whole session.

4.3 Sessions aren't available to anyone under 16.

5. Safety and conduct

5.1 You can pause or stop a session at any time, for any reason.

5.2 We treat each other with respect. I may end a session if I believe it isn't safe or appropriate to continue.

5.3 This project doesn't include nude, implied nude or boudoir work.

5.4 Outdoor sessions take place in public. Keep your valuables secure. I'll take reasonable care with belongings kept nearby, but I'm not responsible for personal items.

5.5 Nothing in these terms limits any liability the law doesn't allow to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

6. Your images

6.1 I own the copyright in every image from the session.

6.2 Your licence. You can use your images, free and with no end date, on your own social media, personal website and mood boards, and in your portfolio or modelling book, printed or digital. Your agency can use them on your profile and in your book.

6.3 The licence is personal to you. You can't sell the images, use them in advertising or to promote a product or business, or pass them to anyone else, except your agency as above. Printing is for your portfolio only.

6.4 Please don't edit, retouch or filter the images, or run them through AI apps, and don't upload them to any AI tool or use them to train one. If this happens, I may ask you to remove them, and your licence for those images ends.

6.5 Before you enter an image in a competition, or send it to a magazine or for any other publication, you need my direct approval. Email me at contact@mettyunuabona.com.

6.6 When you post, please credit me with a collaboration post or a tag: @mettyunuabona or mettyunuabona.com.

6.7 Raw, unedited files aren't provided.

6.8 How I use the images. I keep all rights in the images and decide how they're used, including in my portfolio, on my websites and social media, and to promote Editorial Portrait Sessions. If you ask for an image to come down from my channels, I'll consider it, and I'll act wherever the law requires it.

6.9 Your gallery. Your edited images arrive as a Lightroom web link, usually within two to three weeks of the session, so you can view them all at once and download them. The link stays live, so you can download your images at any time. If you'd prefer them as one download, ask and I'll send them by SwissTransfer.

6.10 Anyone who wants to license an image for anything else should email me at contact@mettyunuabona.com.

7. Your data (privacy notice)

7.1 Who is responsible. I am the data controller for what you send through the booking page. Contact: contact@mettyunuabona.com.

7.2 What I collect. Your preferred name, email address, age band, chosen slot, styles and outfit details, modelling experience, Instagram handle, and any links you add, such as a portfolio or agency profile. If a booker applies for you, their email address. If you're 16 or 17, your parent or guardian's name and email, and who will attend with you. If you reply with photos of your outfits, those photos. I never ask for payment details, your address or ID.

7.3 Why, and the lawful basis. To review your application, run your session and send the emails that go with it: this is needed to provide the collaboration you asked for. To keep sessions safe and genuine, through spam blocking and the studio record: this is in my legitimate interests. To send new-slot alerts, only if you sign up: this is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

7.4 Your data isn't used for marketing, other than the new-slot alerts you choose to receive, or for profiling or automated decisions. I review every application myself.

7.5 Who handles it. Only I can see your details. Google stores them in my account (Sheets, Gmail and Calendar), and Cloudflare hosts the website. Both act on my behalf and may store data outside the UK, under legal safeguards for UK data. No marketing tool, CRM or analytics service has access.

7.6 How long it's kept. Your booking record and booking emails, including outfit photos you send, are deleted 30 days after your session, or once your gallery is sent if that's later. If you cancel, your details are removed straight away. Calendar entries are deleted after your session. A parent or guardian's details are deleted with the booking record. The studio record and the spam block list are kept for 12 months. New-slot alerts keep your email only, apart from bookings, until you unsubscribe. If you've had a gallery from me, your email is kept on its own for 180 days, only so new-slot alerts aren't sent to people who've just shot with me. Original image files are kept in my archive, and your Lightroom gallery link stays live.

7.7 On your device. The booking page remembers what you've typed (your slot, styles and outfits) in your own browser, so a refresh doesn't lose it. It never leaves your device, and "Clear form" removes it. Your name, email and any guardian details are never saved this way.

7.8 Calendar invites. The calendar file in your confirmation email holds your booking details. It goes only to you and to me.

7.9 Your rights. You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or receive a copy to take elsewhere. You can withdraw consent for alerts at any time. Email me, and I'll reply within one month, free of charge. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

8. Changes and law

8.1 These terms can change. The version you agreed to when you applied applies to your booking.

8.2 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
