Definitions
- BE ICONIC is the name of this collaboration project, run by Metty Unuabona, a London-based portrait photographer. It isn't a separate company or agency, it's the name under which these free editorial sessions are offered.
- "Metty", "the photographer", or "he" refers to Metty Unuabona (Ehimetalor Unuabona), the person running BE ICONIC and taking the photographs.
- "Model", "you", or "your" refers to the person attending and being photographed at the session, whether she applied for the slot herself or a model booker or agency applied on her behalf. Every confirmation, direction, and other detail about the session is sent to the model directly, regardless of who submitted the application.
- "Model booker" or "agency" refers to a third party, an agency or individual, applying for a slot on behalf of a model rather than attending it themselves. Their contact details are used only so Metty can reach them about the booking specifically, and are kept separate from the model's own details throughout.
- "Application" refers to the initial request for a slot, before it's been reviewed and confirmed. "Booking" or "confirmed session" refers to an application that Metty has personally reviewed and confirmed. An application holds its slot exclusively from the moment it's submitted, but isn't a booking until it's been confirmed.
- "Slot" refers to a specific bookable time, date, and location combination listed on the booking page.
- "Session" or "shoot" refers to the actual photography appointment a confirmed booking leads to.
- "The studio" refers to Silver Space Studios, the specific indoor location used for studio sessions. "Outdoor location" refers to any of the named outdoor meeting points listed on the locations page.
- "Gallery" refers to the set of professionally edited images delivered to the model after the session.
Time and professionalism
- This is a collaboration / test shoot, not a paid booking, and it works best when both sides treat it that way.
- Slots are held the moment you apply, so nobody else can take it while it's being reviewed, but applying isn't the same as being confirmed. Metty personally reviews every application before confirming, and reserves the right to decline an application or, once confirmed, to cancel any booking, including on the day, if something about it doesn't check out. Applying for a slot is a genuine commitment to attend, so please only apply for a time you're actually able to make.
- Cancellations can come from either side. Before confirming any session, Metty needs to be reasonably confident of two separate things: who he'd actually be working with, and that what's submitted is genuinely authentic. If an Instagram is private with no other way to see your work, Metty may ask for a few images first rather than declining outright, giving a fair window to respond. Having seen those images, he may still decide not to proceed, either because he isn't confident they're genuinely of the person who submitted them, or because it's not the right creative fit for this project. The images from these sessions go toward Metty's own portfolio and editorial work as well as yours, so that judgement is a genuine, separate part of confirming any booking, not a reflection on the person themselves. Metty can also cancel a confirmed booking for his own reasons, illness, a scheduling clash, or something else unexpected, in which case he'll say so plainly and prioritise getting you rebooked.
- Please arrive on time. If you're running more than 20 minutes late without letting Metty know, the session may be cancelled on the day.
- If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours notice. Late cancellations affect other models and the day's schedule.
- Outfit descriptions need to be genuine and specific, a real sentence or two on what you'll actually bring, not a placeholder while you decide. This isn't about the standard of what you're wearing, it's about the booking being a genuine commitment rather than a slot held on nothing. If you're still deciding when you book, you can come back and update your outfits any time before the day using the same manage link from your confirmation email, no need to message Metty directly. If your booking has already been confirmed, changing your outfit details afterward brings it back for a quick fresh review before the day, the slot stays yours throughout, this just means the change gets a genuine look rather than going unchecked. Vague or placeholder descriptions left unchanged may mean the booking is cancelled.
- Bringing a friend, chaperone, stylist, or makeup artist is welcome, just mention it in advance so the day can be planned around the extra person. The same applies in reverse: neither side brings someone extra without telling the other first.
- Outdoor shoots take place in public spaces. Keep valuables secured; Metty isn't responsible for personal items during the session but will make a reasonable effort to keep belongings nearby on location.
Studio sessions
- Where a session is booked at a studio, that time is booked and paid for by Metty in advance, unlike outdoor locations. Cancelling a studio session forfeits that cost, so as much notice as possible is genuinely appreciated, ideally more than the standard 48 hours where you're able to give it.
- Same-day cancellation of a studio session, or not attending one at all with no cancellation given, without genuine unavoidable circumstances, may mean studio bookings aren't available to you going forward. This applies to studio access specifically, it doesn't affect free outdoor sessions. A record of the date and reason is kept for this purpose; see the privacy notice below for how that's handled and your rights over it.
- Studio bookings run to a hard cutoff set by the venue. A session may be asked to end a few minutes early to make way for whoever's booked in after, this is normal practice and not a reflection on how the session went.
- No hair, makeup, or styling is provided for studio sessions, that side of preparation is the model's responsibility.
Age and attendance
- You must be 18 or older to attend a session alone.
- 16 and 17 year olds are welcome, but only with someone aged 21 or over present for the full session.
Image rights and licensing
- Metty holds the copyright to all images from the session.
- You're granted a limited, perpetual licence to use your images on your personal social media accounts, moodboards, personal website, and portfolio or modelling book, physical or digital.
- This licence extends to your modelling agency, for use on your profile or in your book.
- Images can't be sold or used commercially, and printing is limited to portfolio use only. If you'd like to use an image beyond this, get in touch first to arrange licensing.
Using and sharing the images
- Raw, unedited files aren't provided under any circumstance.
- Delivered images shouldn't be re-edited, retouched, or run through filters, presets, or AI retouching apps by anyone other than Metty, for any reason. If this happens, you may be asked to remove the images from any public use.
- Images must not be uploaded to, or used to train, any AI platform or tool.
- If you'd like to submit an image for magazine or press publication, contact Metty first.
- When you post the images, please credit Metty Unuabona, either as a joint collaboration post or a tag - @mettyunuabona or mettyunuabona.com.
- This project doesn't include nude or boudoir work, and requests along those lines can't be accommodated.
Your data
- Your data is handled under UK GDPR, see the full notice directly below for what's collected, why, how long it's kept, and your rights.
Privacy Notice
Who is responsible for your data
Metty Unuabona is the data controller for the information you submit through the booking page. Any questions about how your data is handled can be sent to contact@mettyunuabona.com.
What is collected
Your preferred name, email address, chosen time slot, the style and outfit details you provide, your modelling experience level, your Instagram handle, used solely so Metty's portrait account can follow you, and any other links you choose to share, such as a portfolio or agency profile. If a booking is made on your behalf by a model booker or agency, their email address is also collected separately, used only so Metty can reach them about the booking specifically, it is never shown alongside your own details. No payment information, no physical address, and no legal or government identification is requested or collected at any point in this process.
Why it is collected
This information exists for one purpose only: to confirm your slot, coordinate the shoot, and generate the calendar invite sent to you and to Metty. It is not used for marketing, profiling, or any automated decision-making.
Who can see it
Only Metty Unuabona has access to submitted booking data. Every applicant's submission is private. You will never see another applicant's name, email, or outfit details, and they will never see yours.
How long it is kept
Your booking data is automatically deleted 30 days after your shoot's start time, whether the shoot went ahead, was cancelled, or you didn't show up, the same window applies regardless. If a booking is cancelled, either by you or by Metty, your personal details, name, email, Instagram handle, outfit descriptions, and any other links given, are removed straight away rather than waiting for that 30-day window, though the booking row itself still follows the same 30-day deletion as everything else. The further exceptions are below.
Studio access record
If a studio session is cancelled on the day, or not attended with no cancellation given, without genuine unavoidable circumstances, Metty keeps a record of your name, email, the date, and the reason, kept for as long as the resulting restriction on studio bookings is in effect. This is kept on the legal basis of legitimate interests, protecting against the cost of repeated last-minute studio cancellations and no-shows. It only affects studio access, never the free outdoor side of this project, and the same GDPR rights below apply to it as to any other data held about you.
Applications not proceeded with
If an application is identified as spam or clearly not genuine, that email address is kept on a list to prevent future submissions from it, this is the one exception to the 30-day deletion described above and is kept indefinitely on the legal basis of legitimate interests, protecting this process from abuse. Nothing else about that submission, name, outfit details, or any other content, is retained beyond it. The same GDPR rights below apply to this record as to any other data held about you.
Where it is stored
Submitted data is processed and stored using Google's infrastructure (Google Sheets and Gmail) under Metty's own Google account. Google operates under its own Data Processing Agreement and standard contractual safeguards. No third-party marketing tool, CRM, or analytics platform has access to this data.
Your GDPR rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights over your data, in full, at any time:
- Right to access - ask what data is held about you.
- Right to rectification - ask for incorrect data to be corrected.
- Right to erasure - ask for your data to be deleted before the automatic 30-day window, or for a studio access record to be reviewed or removed.
- Right to restrict processing - ask for your data to be held but not used, in specific circumstances.
- Right to object - object to how your data is being used.
- Right to complain - lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@mettyunuabona.com. Requests are actioned promptly and without charge.
Calendar invites
The .ics calendar file attached to your confirmation email contains the same details as your booking: your name, the styles and outfit notes, the time, and the location. This file is sent only to you and to Metty, and is not stored or shared anywhere beyond your own and Metty's calendar apps once added.
